Violet Rae Plymale Gallagher, 93, of Nashville, Tenn., formerly of Huntington, W.Va., died April 23, 2016 at Summit Hospital, Hermitage, Tenn. A retired schoolteacher, she was born April 26, 1922 in Hubbardstown, W.Va., a daughter of the late Robert O. and Shirley Tucker Plymale. She was the widow of Lt. Col. Kenneth N. Gallagher and a graduate Vinson High School and Marshall University. She taught at Westmoreland and Kellogg schools and was active in Westmoreland Baptist Church for more than 40 years. She was preceded in death by sisters Roberta Schwartz, Bernice Sanborn and Joyce Ward. Survivors include a sister, Dorothy Lovins; two sons, Kenneth S. Gallagher and Daniel B. (Karen Christenson) Gallagher; two daughters, Kathleen (Whitney) Kemper and Dr. Roberta Gallagher; two grandchildren, Gwendolyn Gomez and Whitney Kemper Jr; and four great-grandchildren, Diego and Vivian Gomez, and Jio and Hiwa Kemper. Funeral service will be held at 1pm, Thursday, April 28 at Klingel-Carpenter Mortuary by Rev. C.J. Adkins. Visitation will be from Noon until service time. Interment will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery.
