Virgil "Bud" M. Egan, 95, of Bloomington died Thursday April 6, 2017 in I.U. Health Hospice House. He was born February 12, 1922 in Bloomington to James Egan and Emma Honeycutt Egan. He was retired from B.G. Hoadley Stone Mill.
Survivors include six children, Kay Sturgeon, Sue Egan Bridgwaters, Rocky Egan (Vicki), Thomica Jones (Russell), Bill Egan (Marsha) and John Egan (Dawn) all of Bloomington; two daughters-in-law, Linda Egan of Bedford and Liz Egan Hert of Bloomington; three sisters, Sara Newton, Doris Copple and Ruth White; 16 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 60 years Etta Egan; two sons, James Egan and Danny Egan; a brother, Gene Egan; 9 sisters; and two granddaughters, Michelle Combs and Andrea Myers.
Bud had worked at many stone mills in the area, he was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed watching I.U. Basketball in the Branch McCracken era and was a lifelong Cubs Fan.
Funeral Services are scheduled for Monday, April 10, 2017 at 1:00 PM in Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home, 4150 E Third St. with his grandson Brad Egan officiating. Burial will follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens. There will be a gathering of family and friends on Monday 2 hours prior to the services from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM in the funeral home.
