Virginia M. Eberhard, 100, of Katy, TX, formerly of Boonville, IN, died peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, June 11, 2017 at Tuscany Living Villas in Katy, TX. Born June 14, 1916 in Somerset, Ohio, she is predeceased by her parents, Rodney F. and Permelia (Johnson) Belford, her brother Richard F. Belford and her late husband of 54 years, Raymond L. Eberhard of Boonville, IN.
Virginia graduated from Boonville High School then attended Indiana University in Bloomington, IN. She worked at several businesses and attorney's offices in Boonville and as an abstractor during her working career. Virginia was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary #200; the Democratic Women's Club; Member of the Warrick County Democrat Central Committee; Boonville Women's Club; Past President of the local chapter of the National Council of Catholic Women; and retired from Warrick County Prosecutor's Office.
Virginia married Raymond on January 5, 1946 in Boonville where they lived while raising their three children, Margaret "Peggy", Theresa and Joe. She was an active member of Saint Clement Catholic Church for almost 80 years where she was a Eucharistic Minister. Virginia was very proud that through tracing her linage, she was granted membership to the National Society of The Daughters of the American Revolution. She was granted membership in 1976, exactly 200 years following the enlistment of Christian Cackler, her ancestor, into the Pennsylvania Regiment, fighting in the battle of Three Rivers.
Virginia is survived by her sisters Barbara Tucker of Greensboro, NC; Elizabeth "Betty" Moser of Palm Harbor, FL; her children Peggy Eberhard of Shelby Township, MI; Theresa (Don) Shaheen of Cypress, TX; Joe (Linda) Eberhard of Dawsonville, GA; her grandchildren Kim Russell of Ann Arbor, MI; Joe Waddell of Shelby Township, MI; Matthew (Carol) Williams of Cincinnati, OH; Carrie (Blake) McConnell of Katy, TX; Sarah (Aaron) Hamlett of Katy, TX; her great-grandchildren Noah Williams, Kaya Williams, and Jeriah Williams of Cincinnati, OH; Drew McConnell and Caleb McConnell of Katy, TX; and Peyton Hamlett of Katy, TX.
The family will welcome friends at Bradley's Colonial Chapel at 1005 E. Main Street, Boonville, IN 47601 from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Friday June 23, 2017 with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Clement Catholic Church at 422 E. Sycamore Street, Boonville, IN 47601 on Saturday June 24, 2017 at 11:00 AM, preceded by visitation at the church at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow the funeral mass at Maple Grove Cemetery at 1622 S. 3rd Street, Boonville, IN. Following the burial service there will be a luncheon for friends and family in the Saint Clements school cafeteria. Condolences to the family may be sent to www.bradleyscc.com
