Vlasta Stahle, (Val), 93, of Clearwater, Florida, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on November 16th, 2017.



A gathering will be held November 20th, from 6:00-6:30 p.m. at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home, 2853 Sunset Point Rd, Clearwater, FL 33759. The Celebration of Val’s life will follow immediately afterwards. Chaplain Mike Hauser will be officiating. Val elected to be cremated and her ashes will be interred beside her husband, Bruce, at a later date. A memorial service will be held for family and friends in Princeton, WV on Friday, December 1st at 6:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home.



Val was born in Swisher, Iowa on August 2nd, 1924. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Cedar Rapids, IA and studied Cosmetology to become a hairdresser following graduation.



Val was married to Bruce C. Stahle on December 20, 1948; they were married 30 years.



Val was best known as the co-founder and co-owner for 33 years of Val’s Gourmet Food Store in Clearwater, FL along with her husband Bruce. She worked as a hairdresser after graduation but became a full-time Mom after her children were born.



Val loved walking on the beach with family and friends and shelling on beautiful bright days. She was known by friends and neighbors for her long walks near her home on Island Estates and when her mobility lessened, she even walked daily in the hallway of her condominium. She was an amazing, loving, loyal and dedicated wife, mother, daughter, sister and aunt to members of her family. She was caring, giving and always saw to the needs of others before her own. She was a tiny, determined and bright individual who always gave her best and who sought to achieve excellence in every area of her life.



Val is survived by her son Mark Stahle, and his wife, Suzanne, of Belleair, FL and grandchildren Christopher and Matthew Stahle; her daughter, Kendra Boggess, and husband, Ted, of Princeton, WV, grandso, Jeff Boggess, and wife, JoEllen, and great-grandchild, Alyssa and her husband, Brandon McDuffie of Raleigh, NC, grandso,n Todd Boggess and his wife, Sharon, and great grand-children, Benjamin and Olivia of Princeton, WV, grandson, Timm Boggess, and his wife, Gina, and great grand-children, Madeline, Atticus and Sadie of Princeton, WV; nephew, Don, and wife, Pam Votroubek, of North Liberty, IA, Ed and Jan Votroubek of San Tan Valley, Arizona; nieces and nephews, Gary Votroubek of Solon, Iowa, and Jay Votroubek of Solon, Iowa, niece Cathy Cropp Scanlon of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Bob and Pam Votroubek of Rock Island, IL; Rick and Barbara Stahle of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Kevin and Lauri Stahle of Colorado Springs, CO,and other family and friends.



Val is preceded in death by her mother, Mabel Mundel Votroubek, and father, Harry Votroubek; brothers, Elmer Votroubek of Solon, Iowa, Milton Votroubek of Rock Island, IL and sister, Eleanor Votroubek Cropp of Cedar Rapids, IA.

A special thanks goes to Val’s son and daughter-in-law for taking her into the care of their household during the last year. The family of Val (Vlasta) Stahle also wishes to thank her caregivers Heidi Nichols and Ingrid Roberts along with the members of Suncoast Hospice organization who so kindly contributed to her comfort and care during her final days.
