W. C. “Bud” Kuhlke, age 86, passed away on January 26, 2017. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 40 years, Joyce Kuhlke, and his grandson, Travis Kuhlke. He is survived by his sister, Edith Kuhlke; five children, W.C. “Cass” Kuhlke, Jr., Karen Albenesius, Carol (Bob) Coulter, Steve (Jennie) Kuhlke, and Jennifer (Jerry) Dunson; and nine grandchildren, Kristen (Will) Linthicum, Alison Kuhlke, Brad Coulter, Barrett Albenesius, Grace Albenesius, Mitch Dunson, Matthew Kuhlke, Ben Dunson, and Will Kuhlke.

A proud Navy veteran, Bud served in the Korean War. He was a native of Savannah, Georgia, the home of his many adored nieces and nephews. He attended Armstrong State University and began an insurance career, starting with SAFECO Insurance Company and later as an independent insurance agent and business owner. He retired at age 82. Bud was an active member of the Atlanta community for 54 years and was recognized in 1975 for his service by President Gerald Ford with the Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge Award. For nearly 43 years, he was a faithful member of Peachtree Christian Church.

His family and friends will celebrate Bud’s life at a visitation on Feb. 1 from 6-8pm at H.M. Patterson & Son-Oglethorpe, a service on Feb. 2 at 11am at Peachtree Christian Church, and a service on Feb. 3 at 3pm at Bonaventure Cemetery in Savannah. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Peachtree Christian Hospice.
