Walfred "Wally" Lorraine Knutson, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, August 7, 2017, at the Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna, MN
Funeral service is set for 11:00 AM Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Owatonna with Rev. Amanda Weinkauf presiding. Friends may greet the family one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Military Honors are being provided by the Steele County Funeral Unit.
Wally was born to parents Ted and Miranda (Halverson) Knutson on September 24, 1924, at the family farm in Ellington Township, Dodge County. In 1934 the family moved to a farm southwest of Owatonna. After graduation, Wally served in the Marine Corps during WWII from 1945-1946. He then joined the National Guard training new recruits until 1951. In 1950 he married Verna "Kitty" Delores Johnson and had three children. In 1970 Wally married Marlene Alida Dushek.
Wally is survived by his daughter, Valerie (David) Halling of Rochester, MN; three sons, Kevin Knutson of Faribault, MN, Roger Dushek of Owatonna, and Klane (Shelly) Dushek of Owatonna; 9 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and one daughter-in-law Beth Knutson of Kasson, MN. He is preceded in death by his wife, Marlene; one son, Mark Knutson; parents; and brothers, Wayne and Odell.
Wally loved hunting, fishing, and bowling. His children and grandchildren were the joy of his life. Wally was a kind man filled with love for everyone. We love you forever dad and thank you for giving us the life you did and for teaching us always to be kind and love unconditionally.
