Wallace Glenn Duncan, Sr.
1926-2018

Wallace Glenn Duncan passed away peacefully on January 11, 2018. He was born on July 2, 1926 in the Stewart community of Alabama to John Sidney and Ellarene Thomas Duncan.

Glenn was a proud veteran of WWII, having served with the U.S. Army Military Police. After the war, he went on to receive his bachelor's degree in biological sciences from Livingston State College. While at Livingston, he met the love of his life and married Annie Jean Pearson of Pine Hill, Alabama. Together they settled in Pensacola, Florida as career school teachers. Glenn began teaching at Pensacola Technical High School as a biology and science teacher. Over the next 30 years, he taught science and agriculture at Escambia and Woodham High Schools.

After his retirement from teaching, Glenn's passions became traveling extensively with his wife, tirelessly researching his family's genealogy, and gardening.

Glenn was a faithful member of Warrington Baptist Church for 58 years, where he served as a Deacon, youth Sunday school teacher, Sunday school director, choir member and frequently drove the church bus and chaperoned summer mission trips.

Every Thursday, for many years, he led the Joy Singers from his church to bring a program of gospel music and spiritual devotion to area nursing homes. During the past five years, Glenn enjoyed volunteering and sharing his music with the clients of Council on Aging of West Florida.

Glenn is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 61 years, Annie Jean; sister, Eloise D. Hodge-Foster; brothers: John William, Roland Lafayette, Sidney Roswell "Pete", and George Stanley Duncan.
Glenn is survived by his sons: Wallace Glenn (Susan) Duncan, Jr., John Michael (Patricia) Duncan; his grandchildren: Courtney, Scott (Sarah), Colin and Brian Duncan, Leah (Brian) Powell, Gregory (Teresa) Smith; great granddaughters: Reagan Smith and Hadley Duncan; his sister Emma Jean Griffin, and a large extended family.

Glenn lived independently until his death, a testament to his strong will and spirit. He will be missed by many, but we rejoice as we celebrate a life well lived!

Visitation will be held Friday, January 19, 2018 at 10:00 am followed by the funeral service at 11:00 am at Olive Baptist Church - Warrington Campus, 103 Winthrop Avenue in Pensacola. Burial will be held at 1:00 pm at Barrancas National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials may be made to Council on Aging of West Florida, Inc. at www.coawfla.org.
