Walter was born on January 5, 1925 and passed away on Monday, November 4, 2019.

Walter was a resident of Nebraska at the time of passing.

He graduated in 1950 from Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, IL.

Walter served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946.

Graveside services and burial with military rites by Hastings Military Honor Guard will be 11 a.m. Thursday, November 7, at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Hastings with Pastor Dale Phillips officiating. Visitation is 1-8 p.m. Wednesday with family present 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Masonic/Eastern Star Home for Children in Fremont, NE or to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date. SURVIVORS: Son & Daughter-in-law: Michael J. & Diane Gundlach - Hastings, NE Daughters & Son-in-law: Sheryl L. Gundlach - Nebraska City, NE Catherine & Steve Whetzel - Papillion, NE Grandson & Spouse: Jon & Alicia Gundlach - Harvard, NE Brother-in-law: Gene Novak - Lombard, IL Many Nieces & Nephews Visitation at the Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home & Cremation Center from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM on November 6, 2019.
