Walter Joseph Sepaniac, 94, passed away peacefully at his home at Pleasant Grove Manor in Inverness, FL on Oct 8th, 2017, under the care of Hospice. Walter was born April 30th, 1923. He graduated from Alliance College in Meadville, PA. He was a decorated veteran of WWII, serving as a radio operator in the US Army Air Force during the South Pacific Asiatic Campaign. Walter married Laura Matecki on June 16, 1946. He was an optician and owned his own business, Dumont Optical, in Philadelphia. Walter was an accomplished violinist and composer. He wrote several books of poetry. He retired to Spring Hill, FL in 1978. Walter was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in Spring Hill. He is preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Laura M. Sepaniac, his parents, Joseph and Mary Szczepaniak, and brothers, Henry and Joseph Jr. Survivors include his five children; Gregory Sepaniac of Pittsburgh, PA, Phyllis Smith of Seaside Heights, NJ, Walter Sepaniac, Jr. of Houston, TX, Mark Sepaniac of Inverness, FL and Adele Coppola of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and his two older sisters, Bernice Schweikart and Judy Sherlock, both of PA. Walter’s family will gather for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, 5030 Mariner Blvd. Spring Hill, FL. 34609. The funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2017, at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Florida Hills Memorial Gardens in Spring Hill. Funeral arrangements and care are entrusted to Turner Funeral Homes, 14360 Spring Hill Drive, Spring Hill, FL. 34609. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast, 352-527-2020
