Walter P. LaBounty, 98, of South Burlington, passed away on November 24, 2016 peacefully at home from natural causes with his son Gary and Sharon Neill by his side. He was born September 27, 1918 in Plattsburg, New York. Devoted husband to Theresa (Bezio) predeceased in 2003, father to Sandra LaBounty (Coon) predeceased and husband Henry Coon of St. Albans Bay, Walter (Dick) LaBounty and his wife Mary (Gill) of South Carolina, Ronald LaBounty and his partner Laurie Farrell, Christine LaBounty (Palmer) to husband Alan Palmer of Shelburne, and Gary LaBounty and Sharon Neill, and many Grand and Great grandchildren and a friend to many. Highly decorated World War 2 Army Veteran served in the Pacific Theater, he was a prominent business man, Vice President and General Manager of Northern Oil Company with numerous locations including the first shopping center at Taft Corners. He was an active member at many clubs including the Ethan Allen, and the Elks club. Visiting hours will be held at Ready Funeral Home South Chapel, 261 Shelburne Road, Burlington on Monday, November 28th from 4-7 pm. The Funeral Mass will be at St. John Vianney Church, Hinesburg Road, South Burlington on Tuesday November 29, at 10:00am with burial to follow in Resurrection Park Cemetery.
