Wilburn, aka Curley or Papa, 85, passed away on November 22, 2017, he was born July 13, 1932

Curley married Lillian Sparks in 1958. They remained together for 59 years, and have 8 children: John (Cyndi) McCurley, Doris (Tim) Organ, Doyle McCurley, Jewell Rico, LaRue Sanchez, Mindy (Matt) Dusek, Jonnee (James) Johnson, and Lilly McCurley.

Wilburn served in the Navy for 13 years, was a Veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars, and extremely proud of the service to his Country.

He also professed his Christian faith and one of his favorite Bible verses was Mark 10:25: "It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God."

He enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, watching college football, and working on movies. As a member of various transportation crews, Curley became friends with Lee Majors, Johnny Dark, Barry Corbin, the Travolta's, and other actors in the industry. His fondest memories were renting out his motor home to other actors and spending time with them on movie sets.

Wilburn was active in Yuma politics, a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the American Legion. He was appointed as the Yuma County Constable from 1993-1996 and was well known in Yuma as "The Bail Bondsman", having been in the business since 1967.

He is survived by his brother, Weldon McCurley, sister-in-law Roberta Neff, and many family members and friends.

Wilburn was preceded in death by his parents, Jewell Dunn and Doyle William McCurley, his sisters Kay Steward and Frankie Stacey, and brother Doyle Lee McCurley.

Papa has 17 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He also has many nieces and nephews. All were his pride and joy and he always took great care of them.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 2nd at 11am at Christ Lutheran Church, 2555 S. Engler Avenue.
Johnson's Mortuary is handling arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Christ Lutheran Church for their Youth Ministry.
