LEXINGTON – William Barnwell Tarrant, 92, passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2017. A Funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Eastminster Presbyterian Church with burial following at Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, October 20, 2017 from 6:00 pm until 7:30 pm at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel.



Born in Columbia, he was a son of the late Guy Matthew and Elizabeth Kelly Tarrant. William was a graduate of Clemson University and retired after 35 years with Southern Bell Public Relations. William served his country in the United States Marines during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Forest Lake Country Club, loved to play handball, was an avid reader and volunteered at Riverbanks Zoo. He was a Master Mason and a 32 Degree Scottish Rite. He was a founding member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church in which he served as a Deacon and Elder.



He is survived by his daughters, Laura Elizabeth Tarrant-Robinson of Manassas, Va., Carol Ann (Steve) Collins of Lexington, Sarah Graham Tarrant (Fred) Elvington of Columbia; grandchildren, Charles William Arndt, William Marshall Robinson, Emily Katherine Arndt (David) Connelly, Brandon Patrick (Nicole) Robinson, Patrick Thomas (Ashley) Collins, Lauren Robinson Tarrant (Ray) Colgan, Frederick Walker (Isabelle) Elvington, Samantha Jean Elvington, Connor Stephen Pulley, MariKatherine Elizabeth Pulley; great grandchildren, Erica Shyann Arndt, Hannah Marie Robinson, Gabrielle Marie Wessinger, Dylan Andy Wessinger, McKenzie Renee Arndt and Bradlee Ann Connelly.
