On Wednesday, January 18, 2012 William W. "Bill" McEntire, husband, father, son and brother, passed away suddenly at the age of 55 following a brief illness.

A long-time resident of Georgetown, Bill was born on February 5, 1956 to Gordon and Suzanne McEntire in Salina, Kansas but moved to Texas as quickly as he could. As one of four boys and from an abundance of necessity, he became a model of strength, courage and tenacity from an early age. His simplistic words of wisdom were often followed by his characteristic summation: "that's a no-brainer".

Bill was an avid golfer who, by God's gracious hand, met the love of his life, Gia Gipson, on the golf course. He and Gia were married on November 16, 1991 and later became parents to their precious children Andee, Margo, and Haven. Above all else, Bill cherished his role as father/coach/devoted fan to these three, with whom he often imparted his rock-solid advice for life and golf: "take it slow". With the love and support of his family and through his many years of professional experience with Hearst Publishing, Bill founded Hill Country Directories where he continued to lead and inspire his partners and employees until his untimely

Though far too brief, the quality of Bill's life was immeasurable. Whether through his active participation as a member of First Baptist Church of Georgetown, the Chamber of Commerce, or the Boys and Girls Club, his gentle nature and unwavering integrity touched the lives of all who had the good fortune to know him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Suzanne, and his brother, Andy. Bill leaves behind to cherish his memory his adoring wife, Gia, and their beloved children Andee, Margo and Haven, as well as brothers Doug McEntire and wife, Becky, Tom McEntire and wife, Becky, and Ed McEntire and wife, Joyce, Brothers-in-Law Ty Gipson and wife, Crystal, Tod and wife, Trisha, and Mother-in-Law, Earline Gipson. Bill will also be missed by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 21st from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm at Ramsey Funeral Home in Georgetown.

A celebration of Bill's life will be held on Sunday, January 22nd at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Georgetown. Burial will follow at I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Pallbearers are B. J. Templeton, Rob Ray, Dennis Hobbs, Tim New, Doug McEntire, Tom McEntire and Ed McEntire. Honorary Pallbearers include Coach Choate, Windell Hebert, Jerry Turlington, Bobby Carrol, Bill Gulley and Bob Allen.

In lieu of flowers, Bill's family asks that you honor his memory with a contribution to First Baptist Church Georgetown Youth Mission Program, 1333 W. University, Georgetown, Texas, 78628.

You are invited to leave a message or memory in the memorial guestbook at www.RamseyFuneral.com.
