Mr. William R. "Bill" Mize, Jr., age 90, of Toccoa, passed away Sunday May 12, 2019 at Legacy Heights Assisted Living in Charlotte, NC.

Born March 26, 1929, in Newton, NC, he was a son of the late William R. Mize, Sr. and Alma Lewallen Mize.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Toccoa where he was the minister of music for many years. He later served as the minister of music for Lavonia First United Methodist Church.

Family members include a daughter and son-in-law, Rene and Royall Lewis of Charlotte, NC; a nephew Sam Nixon; and a niece Lorraine Mize.

He was preceded in death by his wife, June Crawford Mize; brother, Jim Mize; sister, Bernice Nixon; and a nephew, Christopher Mize.

Funeral services will be held at one o'clock Thursday, May 16, 2019 at the First Baptist Church of Toccoa with the Rev. David Ritchey officiating.

Burial will follow at Roselane Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to the First Baptist Church of Toccoa Music Fund or to the Lavonia First United Methodist Church Music Fund.

The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 11 am – 12:30 pm Thursday, May 16, 2019.
