Graveside Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 6, 2017 at Forrest Cemetery for William Bryan Ayres, 85, of Gadsden, who passed away Thursday, March 2, 2017. Rev. Harvey Beck will officiate. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.
Mr. Ayres graduated from Columbus High School in Columbus, GA. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Georgia where he was a cheerleader. He earned Juris Doctorate from the University of Georgia School of Law. Mr. Ayres served 20 years in the Air Force active duty and reserve where he retired as a Lt. Colonel.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Hart Bryan Ayres; parents, William Bryan and Thelma Louise Ayres; and sister, Ann Ayres Hewett.
Mr. Ayres is survived by his daughters, Carol Ayres Roberts and Susan Ayres Griffin (Ken); grandsons, Tyler Clay Roberts and Tanner Ayres Roberts; sister, Sara Ayres Jordan (Donald); and nieces Karen Jordan Davis Hopkins (Kenny), Jenni Jordan Foster (Mark), and Emily Hewett Patterson (David) , and his great-nieces and great-nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Gadsden.
