William C. "Buck" Pepitone, CMSgt, USAF Retired, 82 years old, born on Friday the 13th of January 1933, passed away Thursday, March 26, 2015, at his home in Hammond, Louisiana.
Buck retired from the USAF where he served for almost 30 years. He willingly participated in the Korean conflict with special missions and volunteered for three tours of duty in Viet Nam where he conducted numerous special missions. He received over 50 commendations and medals including the Bronze Star throughout his career.
His favorite past time was work from the age of 9 years at a strawberry stemming plant in Ponchatoula to age 82 after an additional 30 years in private business. He was a loyal and loving friend to many and a fierce protector and provider for his family that he adored.
Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Sara Long Pepitone; son, Dallas Pepitone and wife Corine; daughter, Rebecca Knight and husband Alan; 4 brothers, Albert, Joseph, Danny, and Wayne Pepitone; 5 sisters, Eugenia "Sis" Ritter, Rita Carbonnet, Dot Lemoine, Brenda Lipscomb, and Cathy Dugas; 10 grandchildren, Tasha Fontenot, Buck and Justin Pepitone, Jana Mayes, Wesley, Mary, and Sarah Pepitone, William, Veronica, and Alana Knight; 4 great-grandchildren, Korrie Fontenot, Koby Saucier, Piper Pepitone, and Kaden Mayes.
He is preceded in death by 2 sons, Billy and Ronald Pepitone; parents, Joseph "Dan" Pepitone and Josephine Nuccio Pepitone; and 2 nieces, Danita Bridges and Kim Robillard.
Friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula, Tuesday, March 31, 2015 from 9:00 am until 10:30 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment in Ponchatoula Cemetery.
