William “Bill” Vaughn, Sr., 90, of Columbia passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2017, at Landmark Hospital.



Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., with funeral following at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 15, 2017 at Memorial Funeral Home. Officiating will be Rev. Randall Schilb. Interment with full military honors will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.



Bill was born on June 13, 1927, in Festus, Missouri, the son of Hobart and Mary (Bollinger) Vaughn, both of whom preceded him in death. He was married on October 13, 1947, in Esther, Missouri, to Della Umfleet, who survives at the home.



Bill was an avid golfer, playing at Lake of the Woods in the $3 Club. He always had a large garden and gave tomatoes away to friends and neighbors for many years. He enjoyed working in the yard, and fishing. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with friends and family. He was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge, and worked for Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 317 for over 35 years. He served in the United States Navy during World War 2.



He is survived by: his wife of 70 years, Della; children: William C. Vaughn, Jr., (Latricia) of Millersburg; Ronald Lee Vaughn (Debbie) of Columbia; and Melonie Vaughn of Columbia; 9 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandsons; 6 half brothers and sisters; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son, Larry Dale Vaughn in 1975; stepfather, Rayford Slover; 1 brother; and 1 step brother and step sister.
