William Frederic Thomas, 87, of Monroe, Michigan, formerly of Ft. Worth, passed away at 5:50 a.m. Friday at Alice Lorraine Care Center in Monroe, Michigan. Bill was born November 21, 1929 in Dallas, Texas and was the son of Travis A. and Adelene (Long) Thomas. Bill graduated from Baylor University and received his M. Re. degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He married Julia Ann Walker on February 14, 1953. She preceded him in death in December, 1999. He received his Ed.D. from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1972 and went on to teach at Tarrant County Junior College. Prior to receiving his doctorate, he was in student ministry as a Baptist Student Union Director at the University of Missouri at Rolla. He retired from TCJC in 1994.

Bill is survived by one daughter, Vicki (David) Maxwell of Monroe, Michigan, two grandchildren, Melissa (James)Switzer Psy.D. of Waco, David (Diane) Maxwell, and two great-grandchildren, Henry Maxwell Switzer and Rae Lynn Maxwell.

He was a member of Rotary in the Rotary Club of Ft. Worth South and received the Service Above Self award in 1984-85, and served as President of Rotary Club of Ft. Worth Southwest in 1996-97. While in Ft. Worth, he was a member of University Baptist Church. When he moved to Michigan, he became a member of the Monroe Rotary Club.

Service will be held at Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Home in Fort Worth on Wednesday September 6 2017 at 10:00 am. Burial will be at Greenwood cemetery at 3100 White Settlement Rd Fort worth, Texas 76107.
