Bill was born April 11, 1928 in Lansing, MI to Rachael and Norman Olsen and passed away April 24, 2017 at the age of 89. After graduating from Sexton High School in January of 1946, he served in the U.S. Army in Virginia and Petaluma, CA. After his service he became employed by the State of Michigan, primarily in the Insurance Department where he served as Deputy Commissioner. In 1980, after 29-years with the State, he became the first President of the Physicians Insurance Company of Michigan; now a part of ProAssurance, retiring after ten years. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved northern Michigan where he spent as much time as he could. Like so many of us in the greater Lansing area, he loved the Michigan State Spartans, the Tigers, Lions and Red Wings. Most important to him was his family who will miss him very much.
