MCNEFF, William John, age 67, of Washington Twp., OH, passed away on Wednesday, March 7, 2018. Bill was born to Grace (McKinnon) and the late William McNeff on September 17, 1950 in Cleveland, OH. He graduated from Lakewood High School in 1968 and Cleveland State University in 1972. He later also earned a degree in accounting from Baldwin Wallace College and proudly became a CPA in 1985. Bill was Budget Director for Cuyahoga County and Executive Director of the Regional Income Tax Agency (RITA). He finished his career as District Manager for H&R Block in Cleveland, Youngstown, Elkhart, IN and Dayton. Bill both enjoyed and suffered through watching all Cleveland and Ohio State sports. He was a gifted high school and college athlete in both baseball and football and was awarded a baseball scholarship to Elmhurst College in Illinois. He was a proud Democrat who loved to learn, read, listen to NPR podcasts and discuss politics and history. He is lovingly remembered by Deb, his devoted wife of 22 years; mother Grace (age 101); daughter Heather (Tommy) Butler; step-daughters, Jill (Morgan) Heller and Kate Murtaugh and her partner Grant Beeman; grandchildren Charlie, Bella, and Paige Butler, and his faithful canine companion, Abby. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff at Sycamore Hospital, Amber and Karen at Kettering Home Health and his true friend and neighbor Jim Hopson for all the compassionate care they gave to Bill. A 'Wearing of the Green' open house for family and friends to toast his life will be held at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd. Kettering, OH on Saturday, March 17 from 10 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Church of the Incarnation on Monday, March 19 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the COPD Foundation at copdfoundation@donordrive.com Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.routsong.com.
