William L. Leech Sr., 71, of South New Berlin, NY passed away Sunday afternoon, March 26th, surrounded by his three children, Barbara Leech, William Leech Jr., and Tammy Leech Taylor at Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown, New York. Born August 17th, 1945 in Oxford, Bill, as he preferred to be called, was the son of Arthur and Georgeinez (Camp) Leech. Bill grew up in South New Berlin, where he attended school, married his beloved wife, Janet Anna (Stevens) Leech, on December 21st, 1963 and raised their children together. Bill was a life-long general contractor and licensed electrician and was known for going above and beyond on every job, as well as with his friends and his family. After he retired in 2007, he continued helping everyone he knew with any task, big or small, just because it was a nice thing to do. An avid sportsman, Bill loved hunting, fishing, nature walks, and just spending time outdoors. If he wasn't in the woods, he was spending time with his family and his beloved dog, Sophie Sue, sitting on his porch listening to country music and enjoying his "goodies". Along with his multiple cups of coffee each day, there wasn't a pastry, donut, or Little Debbie's snack cake that he didn't like! It was said many a time, "To know Bill, was to love Bill". He was a straight shooter with a heart of gold, mixed with just the right amount of mischief. He loved to joke around and pull a good prank on anyone who wasn't wise to his ways, especially new friends that any of his family members brought home. Bill is survived by his three children, Barbara Leech of South New Berlin, William Leech Jr. and wife, Patricia Leech of South New Berlin and Tammy Leech Taylor and her husband, David Taylor of South New Berlin & New York City. Bill is also survived by his brother James Leech (Linda) of Mount Vision, and seven grandchildren, Adam Revette, Ashley Revette, Melinda Leech, Jessica Leech Pope (Dan), Amanda (Stink) Leech, Alan Leech and Jana Taylor, as well as thirteen great-grandchildren, Kian, Marasynn, Brenley, Jace, Wyatt, Kinsley, Lucas, Carson, Capri, Lauren, Leanna, Atticus, and Landon. Bill was predeceased by his beloved wife, Janet Leech, his sisters, Juanita Nichols, Alma Bresee, Marion Berube and his brothers Edward, Arthur, Robert, Donald, and Alan Leech. A private interment will take place later this spring at Butternut Valley Cemetery in Copes Corners, NY with Bill's immediate family. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Catskill Area Hospice. 542 Main Street, Oneonta, NY 13820 www.cahpc.org
