William (Bill) Howard Lakin, 82, of Mabelvale, Ark. passed away November 18, 2016. He was born December 20, 1933 in Booneville, AR to the late Howard Roe and Lucinda Strickland Lakin.

After graduating Mabelvale High School in 1952, Bill served in the U.S. Air Force with a tour of duty in Morocco as a cryptographer. His greatest joy and accomplishment was his family. Bill was a man of faith, love, joy, compassion, and generosity which was expressed to his family, friends, neighbors, church, and his community. Bill was a recent member of Lifeline Baptist Church and felt it was a privilege to visit local churches through the work of Gideon’s International in spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ through the distribution of God’s Word. Bill experienced the life giving and life changing power of God’s Word through faith in Jesus Christ and prayed this for each of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Bill was preceded in death by his siblings, Virginia Lakin, Edward Lakin, and Maxene Sanders; his first wife, Emma Frances Smith Lakin; and his son and daughter-in-law, Michael Lee and Cheryl Lakin.
