William (Bill) Roberts Barnard, 84, passed away November 5, 2017, at Beacon Place, Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro. Bill was born January 16, 1933 in Washington, DC, to the late William Henry Barnard, Jr. and Gertrude Robb Barnard. He graduated from Central High School in Washington, DC, and received his degree in Botany from Duke University.

Bill is survived by his sons William (Kam) Barnard (Kim) of Semora, NC; Chris Barnard of Lancaster, SC; David Barnard (Stephanie) of Greensboro, NC; and daughter Karen Jarman (Bill) of Concord, NC; and grandchildren Erik, Brett, Evynn, Emma, Kathryn, Callie, Sarah, William, Andy, and Emily. He was preceded in death by his wife Kaye Kamrath Barnard; sister Elizabeth Crowder; brothers Robert Barnard and Henry Barnard; and grandchildren Robert Warren and Anna Warren.

Bill spent 35 years as salesman for The Upjohn Company, and previously worked as a mechanic and aspired to be a Park Ranger in Yellowstone National Park, WY. He had many interests and hobbies including photography, fishing, singing, gardening, and achieved Extension Master Gardener designation. He was a member of the Herbal Thyme Guild.

Bill served his county in the Naval Reserve. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Greensboro where he served as a Sunday school teacher and a member of the Young Men's Bible Class. He was also a Boy Scout leader. Bill will always be remembered for his kind nature, giving spirit, keen sense of humor, and the ability to fix anything.

The family is most appreciative for the wonderful caregivers at Spring Arbor of Greensboro, Poteat Home Care, Visiting Angels, and Beacon Place, Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro for their excellent care and compassion.

A celebration of Bill's life will be held on Saturday November 11, 2017 at 12:00 PM in the Lineberry Center, 515 N. Elm Street, Greensboro, NC 27401 with Reverend Josh Musser -Gritter officiating. Following the service, the family will receive friends at Hanes Lineberry N. Elm Funeral Home.
