Funeral services for William "Bill" Babbs will be held on Monday, April 10, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. at the East Lawn Funeral Home in Bloomington, Illinois. Visitation and viewing will be from 3:00 - 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Bill was born April 4, 1932 in Decatur. He passed away at the age of 84 on March 31, 2017 in Peoria after a brief illness. He will be laid to rest next to his parents: Oscar L. and Mabel Lathrop Babbs of Bloomington at the East Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Bill graduated in 1950 from University High School in Normal, Illinois. He went on to receive his Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Illinois Wesleyan University in 1955 and was a teacher for many years, teaching junior high social studies. He had a real love for teaching and for his students. Later, he studied and prepared for ministry work graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Divinity. He was the pastor to several local Christian churches. Bill also managed a thrift store later in his life. He enjoyed helping people.

Even though Bill may have been of smaller stature, he had a big personality, quick wit, and kind heart. An avid dog lover, his four legged pet "children" were very important to him in his life.

Overall, Bill exemplified qualities expressed in the Sermon on the Mount: poor in spirit, meek, merciful, pure in heart and a peacemaker. He surely loved the Lord. He will be greatly missed...

2 Corinthians 5:6-8 So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight. Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord.
