Of Jackson, age 89, passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice Home surrounded by his loving family. Bud was born January 12, 1928 in Frenchburg, KY. He is survived by his devoted wife of 69 years, Virginia Patton; 3 daughters – Carolyn Hoyt, Diana Patton and Kristine Williams (Cliff Rulison); 7 grandchildren – Beth (Duane) Hafner, Michael (Karissa) Phenix, Christopher (Meredith) Hoyt, Heather (Ken) Kelso, James (Persephone) Phenix, Jenni Raab and Holly Booth; 18 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Bud was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Laura Patton; 11 siblings – Ethel, Ida, Hattie, Alice, Brackie, Iva, Thomas, Omer, Olean, Oscer and Alfredia; sons-in-law – Keith Hoyt and Lawrence Dorer. He retired from Kelsey Hayes after 30 years of service. In his retirement Bud enjoyed fishing, hunting, checkers, and playing euchre with anybody he could round up for a game. Bud was an avid storyteller who loved to share stories of his life in the hills of Kentucky with everybody he met. He faithfully attended Trinity Wesleyan Church as long as he was able. The family would like to express their great appreciation to the caring staff at Jackson County Medical Care Facility and Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice Home. Funeral services will be Monday, May 22, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Trinity Wesleyan Church, 620 Robinson Road, Jackson, MI. Reverend Doug Bottles and Reverend Vaughn Jansen officiating. According to his wishes cremation will follow. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, friends perform a random act of kindness in memory of Bud.

Visitation will be held Sunday, May 21, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Watson Funeral Chapel in Jackson, and Monday at the church from 12:00 pm until the time of service.
