Mr. Willie H. Johnson, 70, of Greensboro, went home to be with The Lord on Friday, February 24, 2017.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm Thursday, March 2, 2017 at Hanes-Lineberry N. Elm St. Chapel in Greensboro. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon, prior to the funeral service. A private entombment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Mr. Johnson was born December 4, 1946 in Charlotte Court House, Virginia was of the Baptist faith and was a diehard fan of any and all Philadelphia sports teams. He served in the United States Navy, retired in 1992 as a Post Master of the United States Postal Service and later retired a second time in 2006 as Transportation Manager for Willingboro Schools in New Jersey. Willie was an avid golfer and member of Forest Oaks Country Club. He was passionate about quality shopping and was organized to a fault. Willie was competitive in everything he did, whether it be playing golf, Black Jack, or chess. Few people knew that Willie wrote poetry and was quite the artist. Even though he was funny, witty, and always the life of the party, Willie was a straight shooter and he called it like he saw it. If he thought it, he said it with lack of any filter. Willie was a loving, devoted, giving, kind, and devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend who lived life to the fullest. He was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his father, James Johnson; a brother, Bernard Johnson; and his father-in-law, James Jones.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of over 47 years, Dangilett Johnson of the home; son, Jamal B. Johnson and his wife Danielle M. Johnson of Florida; daughter, Telli A. Boone and her wife Keisha of Pennsylvania; his mother, Mary White Johnson of Pennsylvania; sister, Doris Delorme and her husband Don of Pennsylvania; brothers, James Johnson, Jr., of Pennsylvania, Wilbur A. Johnson and his wife Barbara of Pennsylvania; and Lester Johnson and his wife Patricia of Greensboro; four grandchildren, Jada L. Johnson, Jordan A. Johnson, Tatyanna N. Ingram all of Florida, and Zoria M. Wood of Pennsylvania; mother-in-law, Marion V. Johns of Greensboro; sister-in-law, Michelle Johnson of Pennsylvania; brother-in-law, James T. Johns of Greensboro; and other extended family and friends.
