Winston Emil Sabatka, 90, of Lakeville, passed away Wednesday, April 1. He was born January 23, 1925 in Minneapolis to Emil and Ruth Selma (nee Johnson) Sabatka. Winston is survived by his daughters, Sharon (Kenneth) Lewandowski and Corinne (David Huebner) Sabatka; grandchildren Debbie, Annette, Daniel, and Jennifer; 3 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many special friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, June; his second wife, Betty; son, Craig; and sister, Donna. In 1946, Winston earned a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering with Distinction, in 1945, he Initiated Zeta Chapter of Phi Lambda Upsilon and in 1946, he initiated Tau Beta Pi. He was the Founder and President of Finishing Equipment Inc., which became a 50 year old metal finishing company. Winston also worked for Honeywell and Northwest Airlines, was a member of the American Electroplaters Society, MN Alumni Association, and Employers Association Inc. He developed Winscott Filters, and numerous patents and trademarks. He also loved fishing, hunting, golf, baseball, football, and horses. Winston's family would like to thank Dr. David A. Ness for his kind and compassionate care, and also the caring staff of Mala Strana Health Care Center. A Memorial Service is scheduled for 11 AM Tuesday, April 7 at Henry W. Anderson Mortuary, 14850 Garrett Avenue, Apple Valley, with visitation 1 hour prior. Inurnment will be in Hillside Cemetery. Memorials are preferred.
