Wm. F. “Pinky” McHenry, 88, of Springfield, passed away at 5:30 a.m. Monday, July 22, 2002 at his residence. Wm. was born December 31, 1913 the son of William Francis and Mary Ellen Doyle McHenry in St. Louis, MO. He married Margaret V. Luscomb April 18, 1953 at St. Denis is Shipman, IL; she preceded him in death July 14, 1998. Wm., a graduate of Christian Brothers in St. Louis, was owner and operator of W.F. McHenry Wholesale Liquors, retiring in 1968 and The Barrel Head Restaurant and Lounge from 1974-1984. He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, St. Marks Parish in St. Louis, Sangamo Club and Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis. He was a board member for Brother James Court, a former board member of Griffin High School, he volunteered for St. John’s Breadline and organized Friends of St. John’s Breadline Fundraising. He was also preceded in death by his parents and four brothers: Francis, Louis, Raymond and Adrian McHenry. He is survived by his sister: Marie Howell of Cape Girardo, MO and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home from 5-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2002. Visitation will begin with a wake service at 5:00 p.m. Concelebrated Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 25, 2002 at St. Agnes Catholic Church with Very Reverend Patrick J. Wright V.F. principal celebrant with Reverend John Spreen and Reverend Ray McHenry. Committal Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, July 25, 2002 in Mount Carmel Cemetery in Belleville. Memorial contributions can be made to Brother James Court 2500 St. James Rd., Springfield, IL 62707. The family of Wm. F. “Pinky” McHenry is being served by Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.
