Woodrow Anthony Still, Sr., passed away surrounded by family on Sunday, August 13, 2017, at the age of 84. He was the second eldest of 6 children, and the only son of his late parents, Francis William Still and Mildred Lepine Still. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Wilma Woods Still, his children Warrena Still, Pamela Still Thompson (Alfred), Woodrow Jr., Byron Sr. (Ann), Keith B. (Connie), Randy (Deanna), Monique Gaines Feast (Michael), Merold Gaines (Frances), Merrick Gaines, his fifteen grandchildren Dietrich Jr., Keith W., Kerry, Byron Jr., William II, Marcus, Mitchell, Ebone`, Taylor, Tiffany, Kelly, Krystal, Tamara, Dominique, Simone and eighteen great grandchildren.





He is also survived by two sisters, Janet Alvarez, Elaine Sims and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and dear friends. He is preceded in death by his youngest son, William Francis Still and three sisters, (Marilyn Ross, Althea Still, Patricia Gaines), three brothers in-law (Dalton Alvarez, Alfred Gaines, and Noah Sims).





He attended Booker T. Washington High School and Straight Business School. He served in the United States Army as a Paratrooper in the 187th Airborne Regimental Combat Team and completed 32 jumps. A veteran of the Korean Conflict. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service with nearly 42 years of government service. He was a longtime parishioner of St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church. He served as a dedicated and unsung usher and member of the finance committee for many years. He adored each of his grandchildren and great grandchildren and they greatly adored their “Paw Paw”.





Family and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Friday, August 25, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church, 4700 Pineda Street New Orleans, LA. Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M.





Interment will follow at Lake Lawn Park Cemetery at 5454 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans, LA. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to his beloved church, St. Gabriel the Archangel Church.
