Yolanda (Yoli) MacWhinnie, age 57, passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2017, after battling cancer for many years.

She was born in Pese, Republic of Panama on January 7, 1960. She married her husband, Robert MacWhinnie in 1989 and accompanied him on various assignments while he was serving in the U.S. Air Force. Shortly after getting married in the Republic of Panama, they had a short stay at Sheppard AFB, Wichita Falls, TX in 1989, then moved on to Ellsworth AFB, Rapid City, SD from 1990 to 1993 where their first child, Ashley was born. In the summer of 1993, they were able to return to her home country, the Republic of Panama, for a six-year tour until 1999 where her son, Joshua was born. Their last assignment was at McChord AFB, Tacoma, WA where, upon Robert's retirement from the Air Force in 2003, Yolanda and her family settled in Melbourne, Florida, where she worked at the Patrick AFB Commissary.

Yolanda was very happy to settle in Florida where she could enjoy the warm climate which gave her the opportunity to plant fruit trees that she missed having from her home country such as mango and papaya trees, sugar cane and many other plants. She will be remembered for being a loving wife, mother and friend who always put her family first.

She is survived by her husband, Robert MacWhinnie; daughter, Ashley MacWhinnie and her son, Joshua MacWhinnie; as well as her sisters, Maria Morcillo and Griselda Polo, and brothers, Benjamin Morcillo, Cesar Morcillo and Heriberto Morcillo, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces.

A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at 10:00am at Florida Memorial Gardens, 5950 South US Highway 1, Rockledge, FL.
