Zygmunt (Ziggy) Skwara, age 95 of Tampa, FL, died Monday, January 30, 2017. Born in Lublin, Poland on March 27, 1921, to Henryk and Anna Skwara. Ziggy was a Prisoner of War in Germany. He had an Associate’s Degree in Veterinarian Medicine and practiced in Slupsk, Poland for 16 years. Due to his love for animals, he started a Mink farm while still living in Poland. Ziggy was a resident and citizen of the U.S. since 1961. He worked at Emhart and Black & Decker as a Machinist in New Britain, CT until his retirement in 1986. He was Vice President of the Polish Falcons of America, Nest 88, General Manager of the Polish Democratic Alliance and belonged to Haller Post No. 111.
Ziggy was generous, loving and hard-working and loved his family and friends. His passion was fishing. He also enjoyed cooking, gardening, music and dancing. And was very meticulous about his home and surroundings. Ziggy also enjoyed keeping abreast of current events both in Poland and the U.S.
He is predeceased by wife, Wladyslawa Skwara and daughter, Anna (Skwara) Werner, and leaves behind, daughter Elizabeth, daughter Maria Millett and her husband, Claude, granddaughter Diane DiPietro and husband Mario, great-granddaughter Reese Marie, grandson Michael Millett and wife Stephanie, great-grandson Austin Michael, nephew Edzio Grzymajlo and wife Czesia and numerous nephews and nieces.
Service to be held at Garden of Memories, Monday, February 6th from 11 am to 12 pm.
