Funeral services for Garvin Dykes, 74, of Cochran, who died Monday, June 25, 2018, at The Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon, will be held Friday, June 29, 2018, at 11 a.m., in the Chapel of Fisher Funeral Home in Cochran, with the reverends: Travis Dykes, Troy Dykes, Trent Dykes, Neil Beard and Larry Pearson officiating. Burial will be in Macedonia Church Cemetery following the service. A visitation will be held Thursday, June 28, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Fisher Funeral Home.

Mr. Dykes was born in Bleckley County to the late Johnnie Elford and Bertie Jane Dykes. His life was truly devoted to doing God's work while raising a family with his wife of 56 years, he served as an ordained Baptist minister for 55 of those years. During his ministry he served as a pastor for 37 years and the past 18 years he served as a missionary with Baptist International Outreach. During his mission by God he helped found churches in thirteen countries. A grandson Nicholas Trent Dykes proceeded him in death.

Mr. Dykes is survived by his devoted wife, Faye Dykes of Cochran; sons: Troy (Cindy) Dykes of Sylvester, Trent (Carminta) Dykes of Cochran, and Travis (Mimi) Dykes of McDonough, Georgia; brother, Perry Dykes of Cochran; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The family is at the Dyke's Residence at 478 Bowers Cemetery Road in Cochran. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to Joyce's Kids, P.O. Box 587 Jefferson City, Tennessee 37760 or online at: www.joyceskids.org
