Janice Margaret Jones, age 82, of Manchester passed away on June 24th after a brief illness. Mrs. Jones was born in 1927 in Charleston, WV, the daughter of the late Charles R. and Edith M. (Donnelly) Allen. She was raised and educated in Wethersfield, CT. She trained as a cadet nurse at the Middlesex Hospital in Middletown, CT where she earned her RN. She worked as a registered nurse at the Connecticut State, Mount Sinai (MA) and Mass. General hospitals. She married Dr. Richard T. Jones in 1948 and started their family near Pittsburgh, PA. They moved to Bedford, MA in 1960. Along with raising five children while managing a household, Mrs. Jones found the time to be a kindergarten nurse and an elementary school librarian. Mrs. Jones enjoyed arts and crafts such as stenciling and painting. She also enjoyed caring for her young grandchildren, who in turn delighted in and have fond memories of going to "Grammie's house". Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her brother William D. Allen. Her family includes her husband of 61 years Dr. Richard T. Jones of Manchester, and five children: Charles S. Jones and his wife Susan of Coventry, RI, David W. Jones and his wife Jean of Bedford, MA, Nancy A. Arsenault and her husband Ronald of Nashua, NH, Thomas R. Jones and his wife Dianne of Billerica, MA and Peter R. Jones of Lowell, MA, as well as twelve grand children and eight great grand children, her sister Marilyn A. Yates of CT, and her sister-in-law Mona Allen of FL. A memorial service will be held at a later date yet to be determined at Hillcrest Terrace, 200 Alliance Way, Manchester. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society , 2 Commerce Drive, Suite 110, Bedford, NH 03110.
