Deaconess Elizabeth Jannie Brailsford was born on May 17, 1927 in Lee County, South Carolina. Daughter of the late Tudie Jefferson and Fannie Johnson Jefferson. She was educated in the Sumter South Carolina school system. Elizabeth married John Brailsford, Sr. in 1945 and this union was blessed with four children Marie, John Jr., and the late Ethel Irene and Catherine. The Brailsford family relocated to New Jersey in 1953. Elizabeth was employed at the Atlantic Romper Clothing Company in Linden and Morey La Rue Laundry Company in Elizabeth, New Jersey for many years. She retired as a teacher assistant from the Roselle Day Care Center of Roselle. Deaconess Elizabeth Brailsford was a faithful and dedicated member of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Roselle for over fifty years. She served on the Deaconess Board and was an advisor to the Junior Choir. On Wednesday, November 4, 2009, surrounded by her family who were singing Songs of Praise she peacefully went home to be with the Lord. Deaconess Elizabeth Jannie Brailsford was predeceased by her husband Deacon John Brailsford Sr. in November 2003. Deaconess Elizabeth Brailsford leaves to cherish fond memories, a daughter, Mrs. Marie Steele (Rev. Lewis Steele); son, John Brailsford, Jr. (Sylvia); one sister, Louise Alston; sister-in-law, Mary Swinton; eleven grandchildren, Sonja, Angela, Hyacinth, Sharonda, Erica, Keisha, Sasha, Marvin, Richard, John Allen, and Dominique; 18 great-grand children, two great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
