LTC (Retired) Paul Willett, 78, of Russellville, died Saturday, September 24, 2005, at the Paris Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born December 25, 1926, at Hoxie, Arkansas to Thomas Robert and Willie Alta Johnson Willett.
He was a retired Lieutenant Colonel with the United States Army and was a veteran of World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. He was a 1957 graduate of Arkansas Tech University and a former R. O. T. C. instructor at the university. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Russellville and a former member of the Lions Club. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Thomas Robert Willett Jr., John Taylor Willett, and Eugene Rosmond Willett.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Martha Jane Willett of Russellville; a daughter, Martha Diane Willett of Seattle, Washington; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 28, 2005, at the First United Methodist Church at Russellville, with the Rev. Mackey Yokem and the Rev. Matthew Johnson officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park at Russellville under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service.
Active pallbearers will be David Howard, Gene Keeney, Tommy Hindsman, Roy Monroe, Vernon Kinchen, and J. D. Humphrey. Honorary pallbearers will be Wallace Thacker, Ed Taylor, Roy Asbill, Bobby Turner, Lee Campbell, Jim Hardin, Don Dempsey, Forrest Decker, and Ward Ramsey.
Visitation will be 6 - 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 27, 2005, at the funeral home.
