EASTON---Josephine M. (Passanesi) Catarius, 71, of Easton, formerly of Avon, died at home, December 24, 2011under the care of her family. She was the wife of the late Gerald J. Catarius.

Born in Boston on September 11, 1940, a daughter of the late Domenic and Concetta (Morello) Passanesi, she was raised and educated in the West End of Boston.

Josephine was employed as an administrative assistant in the food and beverage industry for 30 years and retired from Woodland Partners of Walpole. She resided in Avon for 40 years before moving to Easton 10 years ago. She was a member of the Easton Council of Aging and was an active volunteer at My Brother's Keeper and for Catholic Charities. She was also an avid reader.

Josephine is survived by two daughters, Judy Langley and her husband Walter of Bridgewater and Nancy Rec and her husband Daniel of Bridgewater; a sister, Margaret DiMare of Somerville; five grandchildren, Ryan Langley, Mathew Langley, Adam Rec, Emma Rec and Kyle Rec all of Bridgewater; also survived by nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Joseph Passanesi, Frank Passanesi, Anthony Passanesi, Lucille Dettore and Nancy Paterna.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from Kane Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 605 Washington Street (Rte.138) Easton, on Thursday at 9:00 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in the Holy Cross Church, 225 Purchase Street, Easton, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Randolph.
