Florence Cecelia Stanfield April 30, 1917 – March 26, 2012 Florence Stanfield, 94 of Albany, passed away Monday at her home after a short illness. Florence was born in Rowley, Alberta, Canada to Allen and Maude (Fales) Hull. She grew up in Brownsville and graduated from Brownsville High School in 1935 where she was a Salutatorian and also a Pioneer Picnic Princess. She and Kenneth Stanfield were married in Vancouver, WA in 1936; lived in Brownsville, Portland, Salem, and eventually settled in Albany in 1946. They were married almost 60 years before Ken passed away in 1996. Florence accepted Christ into her life in her early 30's on Easter Sunday and was a faithful follower of Him the rest of her life. She was a long time member of Willamette Community Church, taught Children's Sunday school classes, and continued to serve presently as Secretary of the Ladies World Missionary Circle. She wrote letters and sent cards to all the different church supported missionaries. Outside of being a receptionist for a local doctor briefly, she was a stay at home mom who loved to cook, bake, and work outside in her yard. Florence loved to play games and be surrounded by her family, of whom she was extremely proud. She also enjoyed reading her Bible and listening to her favorite Bible teachers on the radio each day. Her kind, gentle, spirit and ability to always look for the good in people will be missed by all. Florence is survived by her children, Karen Wibbens of Irvine, CA, Mike Stanfield of Albany, and Sheri Gantt of Salem; 11 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and sister, Effie Weitzel. Private interment was at City View Cemetery in Salem. A memorial service will be at 2:00pm, Saturday, April 28, at the Willamette Community Church. Memorial contributions to the National Parkinson Foundation, Orange County Chapter or the Haiti Foundation of Hope may be sent in care of Fisher Funeral Home, 306 Washington St. SW, Albany, OR 97321.
