Captain A.M. "Sully" Sullivan, born April 3, 1921, in Little Rock, died Monday, September 19, 2011, at the age of 90. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Michael Sullivan, Sr. and Louise Russert of Little Rock, and his loving wife of 68 years, Dorothy J. Sullivan.
He is survived by sons, Patrick (Janice) Sullivan and Michael Sullivan; daughters, Mary Anne Sullivan and Kathy Sullivan; as well as eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A.M. was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Crisis. He was a decorated Marine pilot flying B 25's and F7F airplanes. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Bronze Star for his loyal service to Country during those two encounters.
A.M. learned the sheet metal trade while working for his father, who started Sullivan Sheet Metal Works in early 1900. He returned to the family business following active duty, added heating and air conditioning installation and service work to the business and ran the business for 50 years.
He loved the game of golf and all the many friends he met on the course.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 22, at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth Funeral Home on West 12th Street from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a rosary service at 7:45 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be held on Friday at Our Lady Of The Holy Souls Church at 11:00 a.m. with burial at Calvary Cemetery immediately afterward.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Francis A. Allen School for Exceptional Children, 824 N. Tyler, Little Rock, AR 72205.
