Aaron Herbert "Herb" Lease of Fort Madison Iowa passed away at 6:05 a.m. on January 21, 2010 at the age of 76 at Fort Madison Community Hospital surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness. Herb was born on September 8, 1933 in Terre Haute, IL to Arthur and Cora Simpson Lease. He was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife, Phyllis; as well as sisters: Ruby and Edna and brothers: Royal and Garland.
Herb married Phyllis Schnedler on December 29, 1951 in Oakville Iowa. She preceded him in death on December 20, 2001. He served an apprenticeship at the Sheaffer Pen Company before becoming a tool and die engineer. Later he became plant manager of Antenna Designs in Burlington before starting his own business, Sheffield Products in Sheffield Illinois. Herb worked in many aspects of the tool and die business before a well deserved retirement in 1998. He was a member of Heritage Methodist Church in Waverly, IA and his hobbies included fishing, horses and family, but mostly family. He was especially thrilled when he could play with his grandchildren.
Herb is survived by his children Jeffrey (Donna) Lease of Wapello IA, Ronald (Patricia) Lease of Missouri Valley, IA, Donna (Kevin) Hammond of Fort Madison, IA and Cindy (Allen) Dorman of Denmark IA; 10-grandchildren; 8-great grandchildren and his sister, Vivian Seaman of Tempe, AZ.
Per his wishes, his body has been cremated. A visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 23, 2010 with the memorial service to immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. all at Denmark United Congregational Church of Christ in Denmark, IA with Revs. Chad Savage & Nate Frazee officiating. Burial will be held at a later date at the Denmark Cemetery. A memorial has been established in his memory and contributions may be left at the church the day of the service or at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory.
