ADAM JIMENEZ
09.07.1960 - 05.12.2011

Adam was born on September 7, 1960, near the gorgeous beaches of La Jolla, Ca. Growing up he surrounded himself with his 6 brothers and sisters, and was humbly raised by parents’ Luis and Beatriz Jimenez. At the age of 11, his family left San Diego County for the Los Angeles area, where he met the woman he would love for the rest of his life.

After meeting at age sixteen, Adam and Sylvia began their journey together in a one-room guesthouse owned by a family friend. Soon after, Adam and Sylvia moved to El Sereno where they began to raise daughters Lori, Inez, Darlene, and Stevie. After moving back to East LA, they met Pastor Mike Valdez of then Immanuel Baptist Church, who helped pave a pathway towards God for the Jimenez Family.

In 1998, after years of hard work, Adam purchased their lovely home in South Gate, Ca. He prided himself in letting others know this home belonged to Sylvia, and spent countless hours in his beautiful garden listening to everything from opera to circus music. It was his ‘castle’ and ultimately his final destination on earth.

Adam was last employed by ADT and held the position of Service Technician for over 30 happy and prosperous years. Adam loved his job and developed a mutual respect with his co-workers and management alike. He felt fortunate in his work, calling every day a ‘’kick back day’’.

Adam cherished his wife and children, and always took full advantage of spending time and making memories with his immediate and extended family. He greatly enjoyed barbeques, traveling, camping, fishing, and cheating at board games. However, nothing beat relaxing at home to some football or a good, loud movie.

Adam especially appreciated his time as head usher at First Baptist Church in Long Beach, Ca. He also coordinated and cooked meals for the homeless as part of the church’s’ Eagles Ministry. He loved being a part of such an encouraging ministry because through Adam’s example, many have found their way to Christ’s love.

Adam’s health rapidly diminished when he was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in early January of this year. Due to the aggressiveness of the disease and overwhelming respiratory complications, Adams’ battle against cancer ended on May 12th, 2011. While his battle was brief, he was never alone in his fight for survival. He is now survived by his wife, Sylvia and his 4 daughters, who he lived for everyday of his life.

Adam leaves behind a legacy and example of unconditional love and faith, hard work and dependability, laughter and discipline. He was loved by many because he willingly gave himself to anyone in their time of need. His life on earth was short, and for this he will be greatly missed. Through God’s love and mercy, we shall all see Adam again.

"Say not in grief, 'he is no more', but live in thankfulness that he was."
