Addie Victoria Scruggs, 52, of Kensett passed from this life Monday, July 1, 2013 at St. Vincent's Infirmary in Little Rock. She was born October 26, 1960 in Searcy. Addie was a member of the Arnold Tabernacle C.M.E. in Kensett where she sang in the choir. She was always faithful in helping the members of her community. Her home was always open to anyone in need of a place to stay or something to eat. Addie Scruggs was described by family as a giving soul. She will be missed.
She is survived by her mother, Victoria Brewer (Allen) of Kensett; children, Victoria Patrice Scruggs of Kensett and Karey Alexander Scruggs of Alaska; brother, Charles Dewayne Smith of Kensett; sisters, Renetta Miller (Leonard) of Kensett, Pastor Louise North (William) of Plano, Texas and Rose Marie Whitney (Robert) of Judsonia; grandchildren, Faith Alise Baker, Kendal James Baker, Shemar Bouregeious, Jaque Alexander Scruggs and Shi'Ann Alexis Scruggs.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lerest William Smith; a child, Lerest Scruggs and a grandchild, Lerest Christopher Baker.
A memorial service honoring Addie's life will be held Saturday, July 6, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Arnold Tabernacle C.M.E. in Kensett. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Powell Funeral Home, Bald Knob-Judsonia. www.powellfuneralhome.net.
