Agnes L. Smith, 97, of Marquette, died Tuesday afternoon, September 27, 2011 at her residence at Brookridge Heights Assisted Living with her family by her side and under the care of Lake Superior Hospice. Mrs. Smith was born on November 17, 1913 in Marquette, a daughter of the late James and Mary Delia (Girard) Triggs. During her working years, Agnes managed her late husband, Andrew's business office. She enjoyed snowmobiling with her husband, crocheting and knitting, especially infant afghans and doilies. She also enjoyed crafts and ceramics, boating and even sponsored a bowling team. One of her special joys was her little dog, Tina. After living away for many years, Agnes returned to this area in 2003 from Grant, Michigan shortly after the death of her husband. She attended Big Bay Presbyterian Church. Agnes is survived by three children, Bonnie L. Brown of Big Bay, Ione D. (Milton) Barr of Grant, MI and Peter (Patricia) Beaudry of Round Lake Beach, IL; a step-son, Paul (Marilyn) Smith of Gwinn as well as several other step-children residing in various locations. Survivors also include seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren, two great, great grandchildren and numerous step-grandchildren. Preceding her in death besides her parents was her husband, Andrew Smith and a son-in-law, Alex Brown. A memorial service will be held on Monday at 12 noon in Community United Presbyterian Church of Big Bay with the Rev. Carolyn M. Raffesperger officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends beginning at 11:30 a.m. in the church. Inurnment will take place at Northland Chapel Gardens Columbarium. Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy are kindly asked to consider the Big Bay Fire Department, Big Bay, MI 49808 or the Missionary Aid Fund at Community United Presbyterian Church, 300 Bensinger, Big Bay, MI 49808 in Mrs. Smith's memory.
