Joel Ellenburg

Pickens – Albert Joel Ellenburg, 68, husband of Gladys Cantrell Ellenburg of Pickens, passed from this life Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at Cannon Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Ellenburg was born in Pickens County, a son of the late Albert James and Mary Dodgens Ellenburg. He was a homebuilder, an outdoorsman including his garden and a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Gladys of the home, son Kenneth Joel Ellenburg (Angie) of Pickens, and daughter Susan Kilstrom (Eric) of Penrose, NC. Also surviving are grandchildren Cassie Pilgrim, Amber Ellenburg, and Nathan Ellenburg, brothers Gerald Ellenburg and Marcus Ellenburg both of Pickens and sister Marilyn Cooper of Pickens.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Jane Ellenburg Hamby.

Funeral services will be conducted 3 PM Friday, November 11, 2011 in the Chapel of Dillard Funeral Home with burial following at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3 PM Friday at the funeral home.
