Albert Lean Mitchell was born on Saturday, January 16, 1937 to the late Albert Lee and Arthur Ree Stoker of Marshall, Harrison County, Texas. She departed this life on Thursday, May 17, 2012 at 9:11 a.m. She was preceded in death by her father, Albert Lee Stoker, Jr.; mother, Arthur Ree Jackson-Stoker; daughter, Constance Renee Mitchell; two brothers, Isaiah Lee Stoker and Johnny Robert Stoker; and three sisters, Betty Mae Stoker, Gwendolyn Stoker, and Lillian Marie Stoker-Cotton.
Albert Lean came to know Christ at an early age, at Edward Chapel Baptist Church in Marshall, Texas. She was an active choir member. She married Charles H. Mitchell; and to their union, four children were born and one child preceded her in death. She later moved to Dallas, Texas, where she became a faithful member and diligent worker on the hospitality committee of Good Shepherd Baptist Church. She worked at Baylor Hospital as a registered nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit for over 30 years.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories: two daughters, Ruth Mitchell-Houston and Dolletta Marie Mitchell-Chism; one son, Charles H. Mitchell, Jr.; three grandchildren, Christopher L. Houston, Don'te R. Mitchell, and Krystal L. Houston; one great-grandchild, Cameron Mitchell; two sisters, Martha Traylor (Samuel) and Essie Julia Stoker; one brother, Albert Lee Stoker, III; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives; her Good Shepherd Baptist Church family; and a couple of special friends, Sister Sheila Sauls and Linda Sanders.
