Alden Joseph “Trom” Trombly, Jr., 82, of Gwinn, died Sunday morning, May 22, 2011, at the Norlite Nursing Center and under the care of Lake Superior Hospice. He was born September 25, 1928, in Escanaba, Michigan, a son of the late Alden J., Sr. and Louella (Pariseau) Trombly. He attended Gwinn High School and was a 1947 graduate. On September 30, 1950 he married the former Barbara Nylander in Gwinn. Trom was a Korean Conflict veteran having served in the Army Infantry. He was employed for 12 years with CCI before going to work as a custodian with Gwinn Public Schools where he retired in 1987. Trom was a member of the Gwinn VFW and the Gwinn United Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, golf and was an avid Packer and Tiger fan. He is survived by his wife, Barbara of Gwinn; three children, Cheryl (Barry) Fukunaga of Honolulu, Hawaii, Richard (Deborah) Trombly of Gladstone and Betty (Dan) Negrinelli of Gwinn; grandchildren, Joseph (Christy) Negrinelli of Green Bay, WI and Gina Trombly of Gladstone; half-sisters and brothers, Shirley (Thorval) Hansen of Gwinn, Sharon Couture of Gwinn, Dale (Cheryl) Trombly of Kingsford, Steve (Chris) Trombly, Frank (Julie) Trombly and Patsy (Greg) LaCombe, all of Munising. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Wayne Trombly and step-parents, Benjamin Gauthier and Ruth Trombly. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Gwinn United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service in the church. Interment will take place in the Gwinn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Gwinn United Methodist Church.
