YGLESIAS Alejandro G. "Alex" Yglesias went to be with the Lord on November 22, 2011 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on August 28, 1937, here in San Antonio, to Manuel Yglesias and Cruz Galvan Yglesias. Alex was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Esther Hernandez; and brothers, Gilbert & Manuel Yglesias. He is survived by his loving wife, Lillian Martinez Yglesias; daughters, Lisa Baca (Alex), Laura Torreos (Lupe) and Christina Henk; son, David Yglesias; step-children, Alfred Alonso and Elsa Berman; sister, Gloria Flores; 11 grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews. After serving two tours in the United States Air Force, Master Sargent Yglesias retired from duty. While serving, he distinguished himself receiving the Bronze Star for Meritorious Achievement in communications. He later went on to receive, by order of the President, the Meritorious Service Medal - Oak Leaf Cluster, as Officer in Charge of the Base Telecommunications and received The Air Force Commendation Medal for meritorious service as Chief Operator of the 37th Air Division Switchboard in direct support of the Aerospace Defense Command. Following his military service, Alex earned his CLU and exceled in Life and Annuity sales. SERVICES Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 beginning at 6:00pm, with a Rosary at 7:00pm at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 1710 Clower, San Antonio, Texas 78201.The Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Thursday, December 1, 2011 beginning at 10:00 am at the church, with Father Joseph Mary Marshall officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Road, San Antonio, Texas 78209 with full Air Force Honors. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Wilford Hall Fisher House¸ Inc. www.fisherhouseinc.org. helping our injured soldiers and their families.
