Alex Cofrancesco of 9 Dayton Road in Bethany died at home Friday April 30, 2010. He was the husband of Dorothy Warner Cofrancesco. Alex was born in New Haven October 5, 1922, a son of the late Gennaro Cofrancesco and Mary Salzone Santillo and had worked for Metropolitan Insurance Co. for several years before retiring. He was a member of the Citadel Club for 70 years, the Bethany Athletic Association for 50 years and the Sons of Italy. In 2009 he was given an honorary degree from the University of New Haven. Alex was the devoted father to Richard (Lena) Cofrancesco of Hamden, Gerald (Donna), Alex (Judy) and Gene (Paula) Cofrancesco all of Bethany. Brother of Louis, Vincent and the late Pasquale A. and Anthony Cofrancesco. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Funeral form the IOVANNE FUNERAL HOME, INC. 11 Wooster Pl. Tuesday morning at 9:30. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Michael's Church at 10. Entombment in St. Lawrence Mausoleum. Visiting hours will be Monday from 4-8pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bethany Athletic Association 10 Munson Road Bethany, CT 06525 or The Sons of Italy or Catholic Relief Services.
