Alfred Dwaine Zufall, the son of Tillman Henry and Edith Goldie (Ross) Zufall, was born August 6, 1927, in Dolliver, Iowa. he passed away Friday, December 3, 2010, at the Good Samaritan Society in Estherville, Iowa, at the age of 83.

He received his education in the Dolliver school. Following completion of school, Alfred served in the United States Navy during World War II. After his honorable discharge he returned to the area.

On September 5, 1947, Alfred was united in marriage to Anna Belle Wathen in Pine City, Minnesota. The couple made their home in Estherville in 1955 and Alfred was a heavy equipment operator, primarily operating a caterpillar. He was employed at Fagre Construction Company and Estherville Sand and Gravel. In his leisure time he enjoyed reading, bowling and dancing.

He was a member of the American Legion.

Left to cherish Alfred's memory are his wife, Anna of Estherville; his children, Barbara E. Ricke and husband, Doug of Spirit Lake, Iowa; Robert L. Zufall and his wife, Susan of Maple Grove, Minnesota; Lowell T. Zufall and his wife, Pam of Estherville; 8 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchilren.

Preceding Alfred in death were four sisters, Beulah Bishop, Alice Zufall, Stella Kessler, Marjorie Sanders; and three brothers, Gerald, Harold and Vern.
