Alfred “Tony” Cook, Jr.

Alfred “Tony” Cook, Jr. 77 of Beckley went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 1, 2011. Born March 27, 1934 in Dorothy, WV, he was the son of the late Alfred Cook, Sr. and Mary Milam Cook.
Alfred was a member of the UMWA, Local # 7, and was employed with the Peabody Coal Mine for 22 years in Montcoal, WV. He attended Beckley Regular Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by 3 brothers and 4 sisters.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife Clarice Cook of Beckley; daughters Toni Furey and husband Mike of Glen Daniel, Jerri Stack and husband Steve of Crab Orchard; grandchildren Justin Furey of Glen Daniel, Olivia Furey of Glen Daniel, Cody Stack of Crab Orchard, Ethan Stack of Crab Orchard, Emily Stack of Crab Orchard; sisters Chessie Edmonds of Charleston and Mae McCormick of St. Albans; also several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, August 5, 2011 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley with Pastor Steven Beverly and Wes Fondale officiating. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
Friends may gather with the family Thursday from 6 – 8 PM at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Furey, Steve Stack, Jim Stricklen, Bill Stack, Greg Jarrell and Mark Lusk.
