Alice May Frazier Fisher, 89, devoted mother and grandmother of Holladay, Utah, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2010. Alice was born July 20, 1921 in Salt Lake City to Marion and Lenora Frazier, the youngest of 8 children. She spent most of her youth in Marysvale Utah where she graduated from high school. She married Merlin Duane Jolley in 1940 and they had four children, Dee, Donna, Jerry and Blaine. In 1962 she married Joseph H. Fisher in the Logan LDS Temple and in 1964 Jolene was born to them. They were married 40 years when Joe died in 2002.
While single, Alice worked as a telephone operator, and as secretary/bookkeeper. She worked diligently and served her family unselfishly. She was active and involved with her children in their achievements in scouting, schooling, sports and church activities. She always encouraged them to do their best and supported them in their pursuits. All have college educations with her encouragement.
Alice lived in Holladay, Utah for 40 years where she was active in the Lion’s Club and S.U.P. with Joe. She served faithfully in the LDS church, including a mission with Joe to California. She enjoyed temple work and served her neighbors graciously. She and Joe loved to garden, grow flowers, and had a beautiful yard. Alice liked music and sang in choirs, played the harmonica, and the accordion. She also crocheted lace on handkerchiefs and pillowcases she had embroidered. She enjoyed family history; taking classes, keeping picture books, histories and pedigrees. She organized Frazier family reunions.
The oldest son, Dee, died in 1961 while serving in the Navy. She is survived by her children, Donna Webster (Utah), Jerry Jolley (Idaho), Blaine Jolley (Texas), Jolene DeWaal (Utah) and step-son Larry Fisher (Utah), 22 grandchildren and 44 great grandchildren and a sister Mary Barnson (91).
A viewing will be held at Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 S. Highland Drive from 7-9 pm on Friday, Sept 3, 2010. Funeral services held Saturday, September 4, 2010 at 11:00 am at the Holladay 3rd Ward Chapel, 4568 S. Holladay Blvd where friends may attend a viewing one hour prior to services. Interment will be at Elysian Burial Gardens.
